Hi there! I'm back with a second Valentine's Day nail tutorial as promised!

French Leopard Hearts Nails:

I recreated this look, from this:

I painted this for cousin Joyce during Chinese New Year, inspired by a picture she showed me! And the techniques for painting both looks are the same, so you can do either french or full leopard prints on your nails!

I'm using the a black nail art pen, and ALL colours from the OPI Best of the Best Special Set 1 from

OPI Best of the Best Set A: NAILSANDSCREWS

Let's begin!

1. Start off with Bubble Bath as a base colour for french tips.

If you prefer having the full leopard print design, use Tickle Me France-y as a base colour.

2. Use Alpine Snow to draw the french tips, starting from the left corner of your nail, make a slow & steady stroke towards the center of your nail. And then, from the right corner, make your way towards to center of the nail.

TIP: Swipe off excess nail polish on your brush, you will want a thin layer of white. You can always put on a second coat.

3. Use Cajun Shrimp to draw V shapes to create hearts. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be perfect!

And then Strawberry Margarita to draw dots for leopard prints.

4. Using a black nail art pen, or a bobby pin, draw broken lines around the heart shape. This will help to enhance the shape of the heart! (To make them look more like heart shapes ;) If your V shapes don't look like hearts, this is the time to save it!

5. Draw C or ( ) around the pink dots to create leopard prints. Draw them around random empty spots of the nails too.

6. Put on top coat and we're done!

Met up with the BFF and I brought her to satisfy her meesua craving! Coincidentally, it was her lunar birthday too. (Lunar birthdays = must eat meesua + egg!)

And we had a mini pre-birthday gift exchange in the back seat!

Swollen eye but still have to take picture to remember this moment b'cos its our 21st birthday gift to each other. And it's quite a meaningful gift, we can use this pen for the rest of our lives.

I know itt's been extremely long since my last nail tutorial, but I'm back with nail designs that are perfect for Valentine's Day! I'll be showing you how to achieve these Polka Drag Hearts Nails!

We have 2 looks to this design:

1. With more drag

2. With less drag & a more precise heart shape

Before I start, the polishes I'm using for this tutorial are from:

I'm using the OPI Best of the Best, Special Set 1

(I'll be doing more V'day designs with this set of polish so do keep a lookout for it ;)

Colours in this set (L-R): Alpine Snow, Bubble Bath, Tickle My France-y, Strawberry Margarita, Cajun Shrimp

And the ones I've bolded are the polishes I'm using for this tutorial!

And here's a swatch of all the pretty colours!

NAILS AND SCREWS

So here's how you do it!:

1. Paint on a thin layer of base colour, followed by a nice second layer of base colour.

It to be thick enough so that there's enough polish on the surface of the nail to be dragged. If not, you'll only create drain-like-holes when you try to drag the polish. So if you get that, apply more polish!

2. Use the rounded edge of a bobby pin or a dotting tool to dot on polka dots on the nail.

3. Use a toothpick or a small dotting tool to drag through the center of each polka dot, starting from the top of the nail.

Do clean your tool after dragging through each row of hearts. If there is too much polished collected at the tip of your toothpick/dotting tool, it'll kinda ruin your heart shape.
(My last heart shape in the video was ruined due to this reason!)

4. To achieve Look 2 with more precise hearts, clean your tool after dragging through EACH polka dot.

CNY 2012 Day One; 23 Jan 2012

Since the whole family is all dressed up on the first day of CNY, it's the perfect timing to get a family photo taken! And Dad says that we look like we're wearing uniform, cos all red!

This is always the first stop of our CNY visitations every year. And it's a must for the cousins to play banluck with my uncle, who is the banker every year. Our common aim to is win ALL his money!

Finally had our Christmas gift exchange HAHAHAHA I know right, my girlfriends are #foreverlate, what to do? Plus, everyone got their presents last minute, except for XR! By last minute you will think the day we were gonna exchange right? NOOOO it's less than 2 hours before.

The first birthday celebration of the new year; RB turns 21!

Had some Japanese buffet dinner at Bukit Timah area. And probably because we were in a big group, so they gave us a private room. I think it makes us even noisier than we already are since we're in a room w no one around. HAHA.

The birthday boy with a plaster on his nose, due to an insect bite.

Mega awesome salmon sashimi! I usually take only salmon sashimi but at this place, I tried every single piece without feeling disgusted by any! Thumbs up for super duper yummeh & fresh sashimi!

Birthday boy called it a night only after 4.5 consecutive bowls of garlic rice.

Spent the last hour of his birthday at B's place, talking random nonsense & they played with Gougou. I seriously cannot stand Qf's way of calling Gougou in a weird accent, makes me wanna laugh every single time! And he cannot stop asking Vincent if he wants to 'Gougou home' HAHAHAHA.

Happy 21st birthday, bro!

B's Passing Out Parade

The B has passed out from Tekong and I totally cannot believe that 9 weeks have zoomed by just like that!
Congrats on passing out, B!

Attended the graduation parade at Marina Bay Floating Platform w B's family at almost 8am in the morning.

(Decided against posting their pictures up here as they might not be comfortable w it or smth)

All the army boys were seated below the grandstand of the floating platform. And for visitors to go up to the grandstand, we'd have to climb up the stairs from the bottom. And just as we were approaching the staircase, the smell is WOOOOHOOOOOO CAN DAI. It's like sweat smell x1000 and then all mixed together into a deadly concoction.

And the soldiers come marching in..

They looked like ants crawling. And I'm very amused by the 'bags off' moments cos you'd suddenly see the 'ants' frantically moving!

A new oven to replace my old sentimental oven that exploded.

No pictures of the old oven because it's boxed up, ready to be thrown away. But I want to remember how it came about.

My old oven was also a Tefal and it was bought when I was in sec one in 2003. My house didn't have a oven before that and it was bought solely for one purpose. It was for BFF & I (my home econs partner) to practice baking our end-of-year assignment, some kind of spongecake. My parents took it very seriously b'cos it was a final exam and so, the oven was brought home.

For 8 years, it went through random baking sessions w Mumsy, cookie baking w the BFF and the baking of all of B's birthday cakes. Oh, and loads of heating up of food and stuff that my mum does with it. I decided it was worth a blogpost because it has a sentimental value.

Our 3rd Anniversary

If you follow me on twitter, you'd know that I had this major crisis because ALL the pictures taken on the 25th of December magically disappeared from my memory card, leaving me with only ONE corrupted file. But my Superman Tang managed to retrieve my pictures for me!

(Just realized that I'd always blog about our anniversaries only on January of the next year, HAHA)

As usual, a special dinner to mark this special day at our favorite restaurant. (Read: 2010, 2009) Love the atmosphere, and the service staff, especially the uncle that looks like the old man from the Disney movie, Up! Of course, we love the food.

I love the homemade bread that is served to you warm & when butter is applied onto the bread, it becomes melty omg! It seriously tastes like heaven in your mouth, I can see the rainbows & the happy ponies hoping around!!! (Yes, that good!) Every year, I'd contemplate if I should ask for more bread. It's been 3 years and I still have not asked for more bread! HAHAHA

And we love their Borsch soup with sour cream too, tastes like home-cooked soup your mum makes with love.

And this, is the amazing Beef Shashlik that I mentioned in our 2nd anniversary post! It was said to be the best steak that B has ever eaten and I feel the same way cos it was the ONLY steak I have ever eaten HAHAHA. Anyway, yeap it's my first time ordering steak as a main b'cos seeing food on my plate still red & uncooked is not my thing :/ But god, this is sooooo good. Just don't let it's looks deceive you.

This year's dessert is something different again.

Bliny with Brandy Butter Sauce

This dessert is prepared right in front of us, and it's really special! It's kind of like a pancake texture, and the sauce has this a slight hint of orange, plus alcohol. It smells damn good too, I don't really know how to describe. B & I cannot stop guessing what is that pancake-like thingy!

Onto the streets of Orchard Road to soak up ALL the Christmas atmosphere! *Inserts meme*

Ended our special day with Christmas cakes from Coffee Club, namely Love and Peace.

Meet up with Gladys & Debbie for a pre-Christmas dinner & gift exchange at Mad For Garlic. We also gave our belated birthday girl a mini birthday surprise! :)

The food at Mad For Garlic is really good, and their service too! We had salad, garlic bread, pizza and pasta.

Triple Garlic Pasta

This pasta is DA BOMB!!! It's damn delicious, and the taste is totally different from the usual pasta you get outside, its neither creamy nor tomato-y. And the odd thing is it that it smells almost like zi-char. But oh my goodness, it's heavenly. Gladys says it's the kind that will give you cravings. Must-try I would say!

Gift exchange after we're done with nomming yummy food!

It was our favourite Red Mango for dessert and these cute girls banned me from it because I was still coughing like crazy. There is always a lot of laughter whenever we have dinner together! And I'm so glad LZX brought us together, it's amazing how we ended up being such good friends for almost 3 years now! :)

Happy 20th Birthday to our youngest, but fiercest girl of the gang, Mafia LRT!

Not sure if she knew we're gonna give her a mini birthday celebration, cos it was supposed to be our X'mas gift exchange + pizza party! Anyway, hope LRT her birthday present and the pretty birthday board we specially made for her to put up on her bedroom wall! We're all so proud of the board cos too pretty! :)

It was gift exchange time and we each had a secret santa! And mafia&sidekicks are all super sweet! Everyone made personalized Christmas cards except me and I felt so guilty :( But I had mine mailed out to them yesterday, so lookout for it in your mailboxes okay everyone!

We headed to the poolside for Dominoes pizza & chit-chat session where B was bombarded with questions about army & field camp! HAHA

This is our 4th year together, but our 2nd gift-exchange. Looking forward to having more Christmas gift-exchange celebrations with you all in the years to come!

Tom yum steamboat party at Valen's place on Friday with the girls and they make the best tom yum soup base! Homemade steamboat definitely beat steamboat shops outside hands down because its cleaner, fresher and filled with love. And we spent the rest of the rainy afternoon lazing/dozing off on Valen's couch and watching 命中注定我愛你 on dvd together! This is the life :)

Fashion Snippets: Mary-Janes

Ever since I found my dream shoes, I've been on the lookout for Mary-Janes. And it so happened that Love, Bonito launched a pair recently, I had to get my hands on them!

This pair is absolutely stunning I would say, but not exactly perfect.

The only downside of the shoe is that it is really hard to put on/take off because you really have to undo the buckles (ie real buckles!). I thought this pair would be perfect for Chinese New Year but because of the buckles, it'll be so inconvenient! It would be better if there are hooks next to the buckles instead.

But it'll be okay for wedding dinners or events that don't require you to take off your shoes at all.

Other than that, I actually really like it!

Cannot really comment on comfort since I've only worn it for 5 minutes around the house but I guess it's so-so. And the height of the heels is quite manageable for me. Also, I totally adore the wine red colour, it gives off a mysterious vibe!

Overall, I think this pair is a good alternative for my dream shoes for the time being! :)

JB Day Trip

Missed yesterday's APAD entry and since I'm doing a longer entry today, I'll skip both yesterday and today.

Went on a day trip with the famberlee into JB to do some grocery shopping. What my famberlee love about grocery shopping in JB is that you can load a whole trolley full of stuff (almost overflowing) and never exceed SGD200.

The mall we frequent has a gigantic Carrefour Hypermarket that is soooo nice to shop in!

We were caught in this mad jam at 5plus whereby our car couldn't even inch forward so we decided to not wait and go for a massage & then dinner while waiting for the jam to clear! We went to the massage palour which my aunt & uncle frequent: Fizzo Spa. RM54 for a 5-in-1 massage, consisting of foot, hands, shoulder, neck and back! The massage was so freaking goooood~

The environment is clean and nice too. And apparently there are many Singaporean patrons too cos of the shocking amount of Singapore cars parked outside the place.

Dinner at some seafood street right opposite.

And I heard from the adults that we should NEVER EVER EVEEER drink sugarcane juice in such places, especially overseas. Because unlike Singapore where sugarcane are packed nicely in cartons, they throw all the sugarcane on the ground and so,

the sugarcane will absorb all the drain water or whatever unknow liquid you find on the ground in. Plus there are many cats around the area too so its drain water plus cat pee in your sugar cane juice.

So reminder, Always go for can drinks.

We were stuck in another (less) crazy jam for about 3 hours before reaching Singapore.

Spent the night exploring the new mall behind expo, called Changi City Point. The mall is situated right next to Expo MRT Station.

It's quite nice, prolly because of the hotel that's gonna be built next to it! And it's quite big too. About half of the shops are already up, and they have quite afew outlet stores. Like G2000, Crocs, Esprit and Royal Sporting House. Plus, they have loads of eateries/restaurants. There's already 2 food courts in the mall itself! And now, there's Macdonalds in Simei/Changi too! Yipeeeee!

Lantern Festival

This is a long overdued post because I was waiting for the pictures to be uploaded on facebook!

Mafia&Sidekicks celebrated lantern festival over at my place and we had a bbq party!

Botak Cooks all dressed up waiting for them to arrive.

Mumsy prepared loads of food for us! ♥ Marinated & skewed all the BBQ food plus her beehoon which everyone loves! LRT even told my mum very excitedly, "Auntie 你的米粉很好吃!!" And what's awesome about Mafia&Sidekicks is that everyone takes turn to BBQ! Nobody sits there and expect food to be served! :)

3 out of 4 of the guys in this picture have enlisted ): They probably wouldn't be appearing in group pictures for awhile. Even if they do, there'd be no more hair on their heads.

Everyone came well-prepared. What is mooncake festival without sparklers, lanterns and mooncakes?

Sally the sparklegalzxz brought us sparklers!!!!

We did light painting with the sparklers and Sherpoh captured these on shots on her DSLR! These pictures are amazing and extremely pretty. Definitely not easy because her hands gotta be very stable.

Realized that we can't turn on the karaoke system a few days before and Daddy specially got the person to come down to fix it. It was even updated with new songs! All specially for our BBQ party!

Mafia&Sidekicks' serious singing faces. HAHA LPL is in every singing picture and I have no idea why!

While the girls are singing happily in the living room, the boys were chatting away outside. I think they had some kind of secret conversation going on because when the girls walked over, they'd all stop talking :/

Main lead of the night: Mooncakes & lanterns which LPL brought over!

Mumsy even made us Chinese Tea to go together with the mooncakes.

So sparklers checked. Mooncake checked. Lanterns checked.

Loads of food, fun and laughter also checked!

You can say that this segment is dedicated to him, probably my own way of ~~sekretly~~ updating him on what's happening on my side. BFF&I went to get our hair done together yesterday (technically cos its after 12midnight) , for the first time ever, after knowing each other for 8-9 years! It definitely blog-worthy cos its something I would like to record down for the future me to read :)

And so I brought her to the salon I frequent and we left with pretty curls in our hair but a huge hole in our pockets! And the huge hole serves as a constant reminder for us to be diligent girls by blow-drying the right way so as to maintain our curls.

I think I've got slighty tighter curls this time but the change wasn't as drastic for me because I've curled my hair before. But it's a refreshing change for the bff, and I hope she's loving the change because I do! I like the way curls look on her.

And one big no-no for me, personally, is extremely straight and flat hair! I'm fine with naturally straight with waves/curves but still, I adore messy, voluminous hair. You'd rarely catch me with neat hair.
But the downside of curls? Too. Much. Work.

Sally's 21st Birthday Party

Our dearest Sally has turned 21 and Mafia&Sidekicks + Sherpoh attended her retro-themed party together. We tried our very best to be dressed according to the theme, really! And Pretty Sally looks good in curled hair :)

The bungalow was nicely decorated with balloons, banners and streamers! The place was really spacious and there's a swimming pool, plus 3 or 4 rooms on the second floor. Here's some pictures of us camping in the room for the aircon, and being anti-social, hiding away from all the other guests :/

Now we know, never ever distribute such stuff to your guests!

We got Sally 21 gifts, all handpicked with love and we made her open every single one.

As I was packing my "dresser" yesterday, I decided that maybe I should do a post about some products which are my personal favourite.

But first, I'm gonna share with you what finally made me clean up my dresser area:

Before I cleaned it up, bottles of products were lying (Yah lying, not standing up straight :/) all over the place, the items in my make-up pouch were strewn all over the tabletop. Not a single bit of white tabletop can be seen. It's like the aftermath of an earthquake.

But thanks to this 'Clean-up box', everything is spick and span! Everything is awesomely neat now, I just hope to keep it this way for as long as possible :S

Moving on to..

First up, my favourite lip balm and I seriously swear by it. No more dry & chapped lips after using this.

I found 2 empty ones in my dresser, and I'm currently finishing up the one I'm using as you can see in the picture. I think I have finished at least 5 or more sticks of these babies already. I don't know the exact name but its by this brand called 'Laboratoire Dr Renaud'

Because I'm currently taking medication for my skin and the side-effects include dry&chapped lips, I need a really really moisturizing lip balm. Lip-ice didn't work, Mentholatum didn't work, Nivea didn't work too. Only this lip-balm is moisturizing enough to remove that tight & dry feeling from my lips, and no more flaky skin/chapped lips that make you feel that peeling off. One more awesome thing is that it actually makes the "wrinkles" on your lips less obvious, leaving it soft and supple!

Sana Eyelash Curler

My favourite eyelash curler that I've been using since secondary school! They don't sell it anymore so I had to buy a random eyelash curler just to switch the black rubber inside, even if it doesn't fit so well! This curler is specially made for Asian eyes.

Compare the arch of the curlers on the picture on the right. Because Asians have flatter (can't think of a proper word!) eyes so a normal curler like the one on the left wouldn't work. It would be really hard to curl the root of your lashes. But the Sana one fits perfectly on the arch of my eye, so it makes curling really easy, don't have to use much strength/time too! Plus, the curl is natural and really pretty. I've introduced this to afew of my friends and they love it!

Please let me know if you know of anyone or anywhere selling this! I need to replace mine!

Top: Majolica Majorica Mascara Base

I think it now comes in black too. This thing is awesome because you can use it on its own, without mascara and it holds your lashes for the whole day, no kidding, THE WHOLE DAY! It's introduced to my by my cousin Joyce years ago and I'm still using up till now.

Middle: Kate Super Sharp Liner

During my Japan school trip, this eyeliner is on my must-buy list because I saw many good reviews on Flowerpod. And I was so happy when I finally got it! But to my horror, when I came back to Singapore, I realized I left it there!!! I had to get B's mum to get it for me when she went to Japan. But luckily, Kate is in Singapore now!

This is the first liquid liner I've ever used and I haven't changed eyeliner since then. Its so easy to control and it wouldn't smudge. I have oily skin but it doesn't smudge on me. (The Maybelline gel liner smudges on me) You can draw your eyeliner however thick or thin you like! One downside may be its not VERY pigmented, but I kinda like it that way so it looks more natural.

Bottom: Heroine Make Mascara Remover

I cannot do without this! It removes the most stubborn mascara that make-up removers cannot remove! The Maybelline Hello Kitty mascara is super difficult to remove but with this, easy peasy! As you can see, it looks like a normal mascara wand. Just apply onto your lashes, wait awhile for it to settle and use a cotton pad with make-up remover and put in over your eye for like 5-10 seconds. And you'd be surprised! You'll see strands of your lashes on the cotton pad. No need to scrub/tug your lashes hard to remove mascara anymore. This is another product I've recommended to my friends!

My favourite/daily scent: Eclat D'arpege by Lanvin, Flora by Gucci - I'm on my second bottle for these 2 scent already! The Lanvin one was a gift from G&D, and my mum bought an extra bottle for me!

My top favourite is Dazzling Gold by Estee Lauder but it's not sold in Singapore anymore! If anyone knows of someone selling please let me know! I've been looking everywhere for it! Another favourite, J'adore by Christian Dior, a perfume that my grandma used to use and now her daughters & grandaughter is using it too!

Elianto Strawberry Nail Remover

I'm currently using my third bottle! I love it because it has a really nice strawberry scent and it's more gentle on your nails compared to the Sally Hansen one from Watsons. And I personally feel that the removing strength is better than the Sally Hansen one too.

So that's the end of my 'Beauty Favourites'! All comments are based on my personal experience and no, I'm not trying to 'sell' you these products because I gain nothing from it. Just sharing what I like with everyone! :)

Ohai new school term!

Out of boredom at 2am.

A new school term has officially started. The first week of school flew by and I'm already feeling the stress.

What I see in the lecture notes of some of my modules are actually some of my (least) favourite part of the subjects I had taken in TP. (Example SAPM and FOI) I kinda already seen that coming, but I really hope I can survive & pull through this!

And other than the crazy peak-hour traffic jam at 6:30pm everyday, which I have to endure for the rest of the 2 years, everything else is fine. :)

It is the perfect pair of heels a girl needs~

I have a crazy obsession with shoes that my friends&family know of (labelled Shoeaholic & it runs in the family). And if you're following me on Tumblr, you should know too! Because I reblog pictures of shoes excessively. I don't wear them out very often, except on special occasion & I'm not extremely good in walking in heels. But I certainly enjoy buying shoes! A girl can never have too many shoes.

For me: SHOES > CLOTHES

My shoes style would be simple, clean-cut with minimal details, and height. I prefer classic, timeless & elegant designs because they never go outta fashion & they go with almost everything. My preferred colour for shoes is definitely nude or black. But I'd also like some prints & colours in my shoe cabinet too. I don't like shoes that have too many complicated details like excessive amount of criss-cross straps that goes up to the ankles. And definitely NO to kitten heels.

What's your shoe style? :)

Nail Tutorial 9: Water Marble Nail Tutorial

I'm extremely excited about this nail tutorial because it's my first & successful attempt at water marbling! It is not the easiest to do & it can get really messy!

So here's how my first water-marble nails look like!:

The prints aren't consistent yet, but I think it's quite alright for a first-timer! :)

And here's what I used for this set of nails:

For polishes - white base polish, OPI's Need Sunglasses, OPI's Cajun Shrimp

A disposable plastic cup, toothpicks, scotch tape & scissors

To start off, we paint a coat of white as base. And then, we prep our nails with scotch tape so there's less cleaning to do!

Cut out 3 pieces of tape and paste them on as shown! Make sure the tape doesn't cover your nails if not you'd have like bare white parts on your nails that doesn't look nice! (You'd see what I mean later!)

Just a few tips on water-marbling:

- Act fast! Because if you're too slow and the polish dries up on the surface & you'll fail.

- Use flowy polishes! Avoid using polishes that are gonna dry up or sticky because it will not spread in the water. Use fresh polish, that are still flowy/watery

- While making the patterns with a toothpick, clean the toothpick after afew strokes. If not, the polish on the toothpick will stick and ruin the whole design.

- *MUST* clean up excess polish before taking your finger out of the water.

And here's the video!:

After marbling, apply top coat and you're good to go! :)

Love how every water marble design on each nail is entirely different!

(And notice the bare white parts on the left side's thumb & index finger, not nice!)

I've been wanting to do a nail tutorial for the longest time but I just can't get my lazy ass moving! I know its been so long since my previous tutorial. I wanted to do a tribal nail tutorial the other time but my camera stopped recording halfway & I had totally no idea, until I was putting the clips together! Was really angry >:(

Some suggestions on what I should do for my next nail tutorial please? I've got a request for zebra print nails which I've yet to attempt. Wait till I figure out an easy way to draw pretty zebra stripes then I'll film a tutorial for you guys! In the meantime, any other nail designs you wanna see?

Fave Thai Food

B finally brought me to Aloy Thai again to satisfy my Phad Thai craving! And I'll be sharing about my fave Thai food place today! :)

Anway, I love Phad Thai and Aloy Thai (located at Shaw Tower) serves the best Phad Thai in my opinion.

2 highly raved Thai food places that I've heard of are Nahkon Kitchen & Thai Cafe. Both cannot compare to Aloy Thai's standards! Nahkon's Phad Thai wasn't good, and Thai Cafe's is just too 'wet' for my liking & got really sick of it after awhile.

The Phad Thai is a must-try!!! My first reaction after seeing the plate of noodles for the first time was, "Huh, like not nice. Looks bland" but I was soooooooo wrong. It may look blend but it's actually really 香/flavorful(?). Only this place can satisfy my Phad Thai craving ;)

And another new-found favourite is the sambal potato leaves! The potato leaves there are better than the kang kong, omg really yummeh!

So this sums up my Thai food recommendation!

P.S. Remember to head there early because at 5:45 the queue starts forming outside!

RED MANGO!

I've never been a fan of yogurt. If I were to buy a cup, I'd throw it away once I finish the toppings, but not for Red Mango! Gladys was the one who told me Red Mango was really good, but I was like mehhhhh until I tried it myself! I will always order the Museli and I'll go for 'twist', which is original + flavoured yogurt. I can finish a cup to myself and I'm rather addicted to it! :)

Definitely a must-try.

Finally, a day when we're all somewhat free from work/school and we have the whole day to ourselves (well, almost). And to Play Nation we went, not for the consoles but for the good ol' board games!

Not many pictures b'cos we were all too busy playing!

New favourite game: Ugly Doll where you'd have to scream 'Ugly Ugly Ugly' if you spot a pair/3s! HAHA The game's so violent that Von's ring broke and SB's hand got scratched by Von's long nails (I cut mine already HAHA)

They cannot stop taunting each other to do the "tablecloth" - the trick where you pull the tablecloth and all the utensils on the table stay in place - on the row that has only 1 Jenga brick supporting the tower. Evillll people HAHA.

Fireworks are one of my favorite things in the world because they are soooo beautiful & magical! Just looked through my photo albums and realized that B&I catch the national day fireworks religiously for 3 years already, albeit at different spots every year. Almost gave this year a miss but glad we didn't! :)

It was a great catchup session and may we meetup more often please!

Mad adorable lip balms Cam got us from New York! We have Watermelon, Hersey Kisses, Icebreaker Sours, Milk Duds, Cherry & I brought the Reese's lip balm home! Have yet to try it, I wonder if they really taste like Reese :/ HAHA

And I have to say, Icebreaker Sours are so awesome but its only available in Bangkok! You've got to buy afew packs home if you're there because they are sooooo yummy. My aunt gave me a pack (Berry flavoured) the other time and I had to control myself so I don't finish it up so quickly! Craving for some now~

Finally met up with the BFF after god-knows-how-long and we made a trip down to Oakham Market located at Ann Siang Hill! Have been wanting to go there for the longest time ever and yay I finally went and it was great! Thrift items are all priced at $16.95, which is waaay cheaper than blogshops! We both went home happily with our loots that day!

You know she's your best friend when you haven't met up for ages but you still have so much to talk about.

Hi Xianxian! Super adorable 3-months-0ld baby boy that is tad too huge for it age! The name was given by my mum & aunts, but he haven't learnt to respond to it yet. I think I gave him his first ever shower too :)

Really happy that our paths crossed, even if its for that 1 day only. And his new owner happens to be a friend of my cousin! Chanced upon the photo and recognized XX right away becos of that little black birthmark on its nose. I was over the moon when I saw the picture & I felt so relieved and happy I wanted to cry!

And XX meeting Cooks for the first time! Really friendly little pup!

Anyway, he has a new name given by his new owner. He's called Horlick now.

Happy Birthday Von Poh!

Advanced birthday celebration for Von Poh and her special surprise guest was her little sister, Sherpoh! You would've seen her in the previous Mafia&Sidekicks BBQ post!

So using our traditional/forever the same method of surprising, Sherpoh walked into the restaurant holding a cake! And Von was surprised max cos she didn't expect her own sister to appear HAHA.

Our gift for her; its a doggie bag to put Chocolate in! Sherpoh even met us earlier to help pick the doggie bag. She knows her sister & Chocolate's sizing best! :)

Swee Choon is definitely a must-go place if you crave for dim-sum in the middle of the night! They open till late and the food is not bad plus affordable. Love their lou mai kai, carrot cake, 腐皮捲 & egg horfun! Must try!

B's Birthday - Part 2

19 July 2011; Dinner at Ma Maison

Love the decor and ambiance of the place, it gives a totally cozy and homely feel.

Love the fact that their tables are laid with vintage floral tablecloths, so pretty!

The food was quite good, even though its on the pricey side. Their specialty escargots are mediocre but I'm dying to go back and try their Japanese curry butter rice!

And the Japanese manager at the payment counter was really cute! She reads English with a Japanese accent; makes me feel like I'm in Japan for awhile! :)

Travelogue: Hong Kong (5)

Here I am with Day 5 of my Hong Kong trip, which kinda marks the end of this series of Travelogue posts! Not sure when I'll get to do another series of Travelogue posts again ):

Evening flight back to Singapore & we started our day by continuing with last minute packing! Then was to check-out, leave our luggages with Casa Hotel and head onto the streets for last minute nomz & shopping! I was dying to go get a pair of rain boots!

We took a cab from Casa Hotel to Kowloon Station, where airport transfer is. And we bought bundle tickets for HKD140 for 2 pax!

Back home we go, reluctantly.

The flight bad was torturing because I was feeling really unwell and I puked on the plane! Came home to Singapore, puked a few more times and unfortunately got diagnosed with some bacteria attack! Diarrhea and vomitting for about a week and I lost a few kilos!

So that's the end of my 5-day Hong Kong trip!

In the final post, I'd be sharing with you some of my loots from this trip! And here's a preview:

B's Birthday - Of Love & Rainbows

B's birthday was on 19th July, but exams were near. So I decided to make-up (the lack of) everything with a home-made birthday cake that's filled with loads of love, so as to show my sincerity!

Looking good but not exactly perfect, I would say! But it's what's on the inside that counts ;)

It's humongous and its probably 2-3kg?

If you're on my facebook/twitter, you would've known what's on the inside.

Super duper mega pretty ♥

Vanilla flavoured rainbow cake with buttercream icing!

The cake wasn't difficult to make, but it's a really tedious process because each coloured layer is baked one-by-one and stacked on! It took me about 6-7 hours to bake it, ice it and everything! But all the effort put in was really worth it! :)
Can you see how much love is in the cake now?! HAHA

If you still remember, I baked him a rainbow cake for his birthday last year (Read here)

Here's how the cake looks like:

It was actually quite fail cos its really ugly, plus it was too sweet! Comparing the two, I've made such a massively huge improvement!! (Which was actually my goal; to bake a better version as compared to last year!)

And I'm reeeeeeally proud of my rainbow cake! It totally came out how I imagined it to be!

This has gotta be the best home-made birthday cake B has ever received for now! Till next year ;)

Travelogue: Hong Kong (4)

One more day before we reluctantly head back to Sunny Singapore! Time zoomed passed when we were there, I must say.

Oh, just a tip for you guys who are going/intend to go to HK; pack light! By packing light, I meanREALLY light. Like probably 2 outfits only? (Besides the usual sleeping clothes or undergarments) Because I brought like 4 sets of clothes but I cannot wait to throw on my new loots! So I only wore like only 1 set of out the 4 outfits I brought!

The key is: Go there & buy, then wear! :B

A picture before heading to breakfast! I was really looking forward to that day's breakfast!

We had our breakfast at Australian Dairy Milk Company, which was 1 MTR stop away from our hotel. This place is highly recommended by HK foodie forum openrice.com!

There was already a snaking queue when we reached! Queuing for good food/famous restaurants are really common in HK!

Clockwise: Ham macaroni, eggs & toast, beef macaroni, skimmed milk & skimmed custard

B felt that it was over-rated and nothing spectacular. And I felt that it's actually quite similar to another "milk company" place near our hotel. But I was actually really dumb I couldn't tell the difference between sunny side up & scrambled eggs in mandarin so I ordered wrongly!!!! ):

Can someone who has tried please tell me how it really tastes like?

The macaroni was normal, even though highly raved too! And we weren't really big fans of skimmed milk & custard, tend to get really sick of it after afew mouthfuls!

Leaving Jordon & heading to Prince Edward for shopping!

Shopping thus no pictures so I'll just describe!

Gladys recommended this MUST-SHOP place that she gets most of her loots at, which was 花園街/Fa Yuen Street! There are actually 2 ends of the street, one that really sells flowers & the one at Prince Edward that sells clothes. And it isn't exactly the street itself that sells clothes, it's the 2 rows of shops outside the street!

But sad to say, the shopping there was so-so because most of the shops sell the same stuff. They sell loads of clothes & shoes, almost like bugis street stuff! Probably because the stuff they sell there are not the kind I fancy so I find the place mediocre! But still, I feel that its worth a visit!

Then to Allied Plaza, which is almost like our fareast plaza! It's something like Argyle Centre except alittle more expensive! My No. 1 shopping destination in HK is still Argyle Centre!

Teabreak at Kam Wah Cafe!

Ohmygoodness the stuff they serve taste so awesome! The 波蘿油 is so yummy the bun is really crispy and the melty butter inside omg, but the thick french toast has got to be the best! I haven't tried any from singapore's hong kong cafes so I can't make a comparison but according to B, the authentic one definitely tastes better!! And their milk tea was good too, served in traditional tea cups with cute little pictures at the bottom of the cup! This place is really famous too, with all the newspaper clippings & a freaking packed restaurant!

We had to share table with another local couple so it was kinda awkward! Like a 4-seater table, with 2 of us on one side, and facing 2 of them on the other side! Its really common in famous food places so be prepared!

This place is a must-visit!

Hui Lau Shan Dessert Shop that's all over Hong Kong. I tried the desserts on Day 1, which was really yummy! This mango sago drink was good too! I love sago!

Mr. Softee Mobile Ice-cream truck spotted outside Silvercord!

Heading back to the hotel to drop our shopping & off to Yoshinoya for supper!

Their Yoshinoya is super different from singapore's! They still serve the beef bowls and such that singapore serve, and besides that, they have like hotplates and hotpots where you can have your own mini steamboat / bbq! It's actually worth a try!

Starting of Day 3 with breakfast at a 茶餐廳!

First destination of the day: Central, Hong Kong Island

Came out of the MTR station and was greeted with this, a protest right outside Citibank. Our first time witnessing a protest, and they had all sorts of banners & pictures of the CEOs with coffins and stuff!

The largest H&M store is located in Central.

I think Longchamp's flagship store is located in Central too. Entered Longchamp and was sooo very tempted to get another one, but was dissuaded by the boyfriend :/ It's cheaper there as compared to Singapore!

Next destination: Causeway Bay

Times Square; where all the branded stuff are and it was a complete waste of time and we didn't buy anything!

Dinner at Tsui Wah Restaurant and its actually quite a famous place cos the place was quite packed! They have many branches all around HK. B's curry rice was good, my fishball noodle sucked. But that bread thingy with condensed milk was HEAVENLY!!! Its super crunchy and there was a sweet taste to it due to the condensed milk! Mega yumz!

The restaurant was quite retro-looking.

Then we headed back to Central cos we're visiting The Peak! I went there with my family once but we didn't get to visit the wax museum! So B & I decided to visit both The Peak and the wax museum, so we got the bundle ticket!

Had to walk a distance from the MTR station to get there!

The place was mad packed cos we were there quite late, probably around 8plus or so!

The first thing that comes into my head was, "Why so crowded?!" And then I realize it was the wax figures "standing" around! HAHAHA The wax figures are so real that they look kinda creepy!

That's Ayumi Hamasaki, the Royal family and me in a princess hat HAHAHA, fighting with Ye Wen and Madonna! Took many stupid pictures and B thinks this is extremely funneh:

There are also wax figures of people like Jay Chou, LKY, Hitler, Tiger Woods, Andy Lau, Lady Gaga etc etc! Its actually worth a visit, like since you're there already, why not?

And then up to The Peak and the view was magnificent!

Got a Japanese couple to take this picture for us. Ever since the trip to Japan, I think Japanese have awesome photography skills! And yes its proven again, even in HK!

Left the place close to 12, which explains the amount of people left in the train. And t'was cup noodles for supper!

BUT BUT BUT to our horror, we realized we had no chopsticks just as we were gonna eat the noodles!!!! And we had to go to the reception to ask if they have any HAHAHA.

A date with B to Sunset Grill. Have been wanting to go there because I've heard so many raves about its buffalo wings, but the fact that it's very hard to locate has put us off.

Anyhow we made our way there and had a hard time searching for the place. I'd totally not recommend this place if you do not have a car because it's really secluded and deep inside.

The cafe is actually located at the Singapore Flying Club

Level 5 Buffalo wings was managable for me! But don't drink water if you can, because it'll only make it spicier!

We ordered Beef Mini Burgers which was not bad too, but I feel that the price of the food wasn't very pocket-friendly, t'was on the high side. But it's worth a/ONE visit!

Hi guize, finally found time to do up this blogpost about HKG Day 2!

The shops in HK don't usually open early, they open at around 11-12noon or even 1pm-2pm! Its because they don't close early too, usually around 11-12midnight. So there's no point waking up early and we woke up at around 10am everyday!

Started our day with traditional HK style breakfast!

Breakfast as Yee Shun Milk Company near our hotel.

Right after breakfast, we walked over to get queue number for this highly raved dimsum place, Tim Ho Wan, the Dim-Sum Specialists, 添好運點心專門店 ! It's ranked number 1 on a HK foodie forum openrice.com and also highly recommended by Gladys! The place is alittle hard to locate but the huge crowd outside the shop made the shop alittle easier to spot.

I think we went at about 11am, to get a queue number and we were instructed to come back before 3pm in order for the queue number to be valid. They'd reissue queue numbers after 3pm so if you're late you gotta get a new number. And the best recommended time to go back is like 2:50, nearing 3pm! Bcos if you're there early, you gotta wait too! Yes, THAT is how popular they are.

Then back to the dimsum shop, alittle after 3pm but they still let us in! I think we're lucky cos on other days, I saw them rejecting people!

The shop is quite small and every. single. seat. is utilized, which explains why you see some random girl next to B in the picture.

And their shop's speciality, CHARSIEW BOLUO BUN 叉燒波羅包!!!!!

It's reeeeeally a must order because it's so awesomely good that it deserves a picture of its own!!!! Super duper mega ultra yumzzzzz!

Charsiew fillings inside the bun! Gotta love 'wet' charsiew fillings, they taste heavenly!

It comes in a set of 3 and B is always super nice to let me eat 2! Craving for some now as I'm typing this!

Took their MTR (Just like our MRT) to Tsim Sha Tsui, which was a stop away!

Their MTR is really similiar to ours so getting around with it wasn't a problem.

And I'm such a goondoo I actually dropped my Octopus card (ezlink) which I was holding in my hand, without realizing!! I feel so dumb cos take 1 stop also can drop omg!

And what's worse is that, as we were travelling up the escalator to the concourse level to tap out, B said "Eh look there's a card on the floor" I was busy taking pics (those above!!) so I wasn't really paying attention. And as I capped on the lens cap, I realized 'OMG my card not on my hand anymore!!! OMG my card lost! OMG THATS MY CARD!!!'

So he had to chiong up and down the stairs to pick up the card, less than 2 mintues, it was gone -_________- I bet he wanted to strangle me on the spot. And there goes the 50HKD deposit with the card, and I had to get a new one. :( Steeewpid me.
